Summary: Sometimes a yawn is just a yawn
Comment: I've read the book several times and found it useful in understanding my dogs and showing me that dogs have a language however I can't believe that everything a dog does is part of language. There are bodily functions like yawning that could mean that the dog needs oxygen rather
than it's trying to communicate.

All in all I think it's better than the DVD but they both are better than either one alone. I also don't believe that positive only is the way to go. A dog is entitled to the consequences of his bad behavior.

Comment: I found the book very helpful because I felt that I could get a deep insight into dog language and dog behaviour. It is important to understand your dog and his signals in order to treat and train him properly.

Comment: This book describes ways in which a dog expresses itself for a better understanding of why dogs act the way they do. It teaches us to respond as a dog would and in so doing helps us to better communicate with our canine friend.

Comment: The book gave me insight into the communication signals I need to tell my dogs that the situation is not ominous. It is the best method of signaling my best intentions.

Summary: A simplistic voice for dogs
Comment: This book and the DVD was recommended to me by a dog trainer/whisperer who said she thought it was the best thing she'd seen for dogs. My overall impression, after reading it and watching the disc is that this trainer is "on to something" but hasn't really got it all worked out yet. She puts Calming Signals forth as a way of understanding dog body language, but is everything about "anxiety" for dogs? Isn't the occasional yawn just a yawn? Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar as another interpreter once admitted and I have a hard time believing everything is broken down into this simplistic, if occasionally useful, dichotomy of "anxiety/calm". I think there's more to dogs.
