Summary: Please note that this is the STUDY GUIDE
Comment: Please be a better reader of the product description than I was. This is a study guide only. You need to buy the paperback book that this goes with in order to get anything out of it. I would have probably given it more than two stars, but I don't have the book -- though I'm going to get it. Notice that the reviews are for the book -- NOT the study guide.

Summary: Great read
Comment: I am amazed that this book has only 5 stars or the exact opposite. I agree with all of those 5 stars. Those who hate this book either must not have read it or read it with a twisted view in mind and could not read it for what it is worth. This book has been wonderful for our family and a great reminder in what should be common sense but I had not even thought of in my child training- teaching them with God's word.

I have to say I have seen huge improvement since putting this into effect (in myself as well)- lovingly training them with scripture in why they are to do as I ask- not because I am bigger than them, or want total control over them- but because I love them and want them to have God's blessing and grow to know God's love and care for His children.

I felt this book was well laid out and was an easy read. Keep in mind you need to read any parenting book with a grain of salt- as you will not agree with anyone 100%

Summary: Exceptional Insight
Comment: I loved this book as it was so grounded in scripture. Lou challenges parents to examine their own hearts and motives towards their children as he gives Biblical advice on disciplining them. This book is a must have in any parental library - and its advice is a challenging must DO as parents who want to help "train up a child" to be a lover of God.

Summary: The book confuses discipline with spanking
Comment: This is another book which preaches to parents to spank their children because the bible commands them to do so. It is written in the bible that a woman who is not faithful should be stoned to death. Does it make this kind of practice right? The author emphasises that the spanking should be strong enough to cause pain, other wise it isn't effective. If spanking was effective why would parents have to do it again and again? The book confuses discipline which means to teach, with spanking. If the bible is a moral guide for a parent then he shouldn't use hitting since hitting is an unjust practice and it provides an immoral model for the child.

Comment: This is one of my favorite parenting books ever! It has made me love my kids even more, and love parenting them. It takes parenting from being about me to being about them and their relationship with God. A life changing book!
