No child is too young to begin learning about the greatest love story of all-God's love for his people, as portrayed in the Bible. David R. Helm and Gail Schoonmaker collaborate to create a beautifully illustrated book of Bible stories especially for children, written with simplicity. Rather than simply retelling the most familiar short scenes from the Bible, this book presents the "big picture"-the unified story running through the Old and New Testaments. This delightful book will help children learn the Bible's whole story and begin to appreciate the fulfillment of God's promise to his people.
The Big Picture Bible Story Book is perfect for parents to read to their children, and eventually, for children to read on their own. It is an excellent way to introduce them to a book that will guide them through all of life.

Summary: Adam S
Comment: This is a wonderful children's bible. Instead of just being a bible with pictures and calling it a children's bible, this bible is different.
It takes the stories of scripture and tells them in children's language with wonderful pictures. But what makes it different is that the narrative is not just disconnected stories but a connected story. Reading this book gives even adults a good understanding of the connectedness of scripture. Highly recommend reading it, even just as an adult.

Summary: Great Bible Story Book for Toddlers
Comment: I love this Bible Story book. While it does not have all of the popular stories, it does carry the "big picture" of what the Bible is about through out it. It is easy to read and my toddlers have enjoyed it and already learned a lot. I highly recommend this product for toddlers.

Summary: great for family devotions
Comment: I bought this book to use in our family devotions. We have really enjoyed the book, and I highly recommend it. It is has full page color pictures on every page. There is not much text per page, which helps keep young children from losing interest (ours are 7, 4, and 1). Our second grader can read the text without much help. It is not a Bible, it is a story book which colorfully presents the "big picture" of the Bible. The emphasis is on God's plan for God's people in God's place. I only wish the book were longer. It did not take us very many nights to complete it. I'll hope that the authors make a companion volume which covers additional Bible stories.

Summary: Great for Grown-ups Who Care About God's Story of Redemption, But May Not Be Good for Kids
Comment: We really wanted to like this Bible. It came highly recommended by one of the seminarians in my Christ-Centered Preaching Class with Bryan Chapell. The grand theme of God's grace comes through clearly in this story Bible and it certainly lives up to its name as the "Big Picture Story Bible". So as adults who appreciate the Bible as God's story of redemption, my wife and I certainly approved.
However, my four year-old daughter did not like this story Bible at all. This was surprising to us because she normally loves our "Bible time" at night, but when we started using this Bible, we noticed that she lost her interest. When we finally asked her why she wasn't paying attention, she told us that she didn't like this Bible because "everyone has a sad face". When she made this observation, we flipped through the story Bible and came to realize that her observation was right on: everyone did have a sad face. This is a shame because the story Bible was otherwise beautifully illustrated. Perhaps my child is in the minority, and your child won't mind seeing sad faces on every page, but if you think that the illustrations would take away from your child's appreciation of God's beautiful story of grace then you may want to look elsewhere.
