Comment: I had my client read a few chapters, and this allowed him to understand why he does the things he does. Good reference that Kids can use.

Comment: My son was suspended from his school, 3 times in 2 weeks. (He's only in first grade)They were one day suspensions, but regardless, he was suspended for anger behavior issues. And as a parent it kills you inside to think that your child could be so bad. I sat him on my lap at my computer and we researched it together. We picked out these books together and strange as it may seem, soon after his behavior started to change, it was like he was someone elses child...lol. The lessons we went through were amazing as far as learning together what he should do and as a parent how to approch situations. For example, my son flew off the handle when someone would smirk at him or laugh at him. Make fun of
his behavior. IN the book it gives a situation, what if you were walking down the hall and a kid bumped into you knocking your books to the floor, what would you do. My son said I would scream at him to "watch out man or next time you'll get it!" IN the book it tells you it was a handicapped person in a wheel chair that bumped into the student, before
hand. So that you can set up the question correctly. I asked my son what if it was Dennis? (A Kid in his school who is in a wheel chair), He said then I would not have screamed at him. And we both learned as the book teaches, you can control your anger, YOU decide if you want to be mad, no one else, can make you mad. You choose to be mad or not. He is my first born of 2, I don't have all the answers, I learn as I go, but I know I love him enough to try anything. And my son is amzingly different now. Thanks to these books. Thank you, "Getting the GRRR out of Anger", We have learned alot as a family.

Summary: How the Take the Grrr Out of Anger
Comment: Excellent book. My child is 9 years old and not only finds this book entertaining enough to go back to for help when she's feeling upset and angry, but has ear marked and highlighted several places she finds particularly helpful to her. It has short and to the point advise and humorous illustrations that a child can both relate to and understand; and through example, shows them where they are on controlling their own responses and gives them plenty of ideas on how to improve them. I definitely recommend this book to anyone dealing with a child who is struggling with identifying and controlling their emotions.

Summary: Great Anger Handbook
Comment: Wonderful explanations of what anger is, how to recognize the feelings, how to express the feeling in a healthier way and how to problem solve. My daughter loved the examples of dialogue as they were accurate samples of what she deals with on a daily basis with her peers at school. I appreciated the fact that we could pick it up and read any chapter without reading the entire book. My daughter has also benefited by reading a book called Angry Octopus: A Relaxation Story. She feels empowered by both of these books and is now implementing taking a deep breath to calm her anger just as the octopus does in Angry Octopus. It is a winning combination.
