Summary: Dangerous and Ignorant Advice
Comment: I found James Dobson to be both ignorant and dangerous. He clearly has not kept up with the research done since receiving his Psychology degree in the early 1960's. He advocates violence and corporal punishment, and has an overall negative assumption toward the motivations and intentions of children.
If you want a guide to misconstruing your children's attempts to learn and crushing their spirits, get this book.

Comment: This a great book, gives you an inside to other peoples stories of their strong willed kids as well as the author's input. Great reading book.

Summary: There Are Children, Difficult, Children & Strong-Willed Children
Comment: With the basic parenting techniques that I discuss with parents, there's a certain child that these practices will not work with; the strong willed child. These children behave in such a way that normal family/parent behavior adjustments will not work. They must be met head on and parents must work to shape their child's will without breaking their spirit.
Dr. Dobson's book is an excellent one as it speaks of the only being that can trully help us in all our difficulties; God. Through the power of prayer, and bear hugs that last for an hour or more, the parents Dobson interviews in his audio edition were able to mold their difficult children while keeping their family and santity in tact.
