Comment: I received my order of both Smart French CD Rom and the Smart French Intermediate & Advanced Level. I purchased both based on all of the positive reviews.
Well, having worked with the first set of lessons on the CD Rom and after visiting the Smart French website for practice dictation, I must say that all the reviews were right! In addition, to practicing with the CD Rom, I listen daily to the audio CDs while commuting. I find that both the CD Rom and the audio CDs work hand in hand as genuine immersion. In short, the CD Rom, the audio CDs, and the SmartFrench website have boosted my acquisition of French considerably. This program is amazing and I have had the most enjoyable learning experience!
I am a college student of French and knew intuitively that there must be a different way to learn French besides the conventional `method memorizing'. What's more, my grades in French have suffered because I have had to work against this intuition and against my particular learning style. Not everyone learns by memorizing, certainly not me. I learn through application, repetition, and association; as such, this program entirely corresponds to my learning style.
I love and am committed to learning French. I think that finding Smart French is something of a miracle for me. Summary: A really useful tool
Comment: I've used SmartFrench (intermediate and advanced) for a couple of weeks now, and find my pronunciation and comprehension of spoken French improving by the day. I am following the recommended method: listen, speak (without looking and the book) and then, as a last step, following the text. In the first steps, I don't always know all the words, but I find it doesn't matter. Granted, this tool needs to be used along with others. I am also intensively reviewing verbs, idioms and those oh so tricky prepositions. But I know from experience that having a head full of orrect verb tenses and vocabulary doesn't equate with being able to conversse fluently with French speakers. Many French sounds and constructions present difficulty for English speakers, and I, for one, am truly grateful to have Smart French among my resources.

Summary: I hear you and I understand you!
Comment: I have studied french grammar and memorized french vocabulary. But until SmartFrench, I often found carrying on a conversation with french people difficult and understanding french movies and TV, almost impossible. Then I discovered SmartFrench. This CD program focuses on two important, but often ignored aspects of learning the french language: pronunciation and aural comprehension. On these two areas, SmartFrench is outstanding. It begins by discussing the alphabet and french sounds and then painstakingly walks you through interviews with real french people. You hear the interviews read, you pronounce the words, you pay attention to the rhythm of the language and the patterns of speech. You read the text and then you hear the actual interview. As the program progresses, your ability to listen, to hear and to understand improves. I highly recommend this program to people who want to challenge themselves to actually speak and understand the french language.

Summary: Excellent for Improving Listening and Speaking Skills
Comment: This is the only Amazon review I've written - because the product is so great.
I've studied French for years (8) and am now moving to France and while I can be read at a high level I've always struggled with speaking and listening. Movies and radio are a bit too fast and I had a hard time finding audiobooks with text. SmartFrench fills this void! Through repetitive drilling of the text, from native speakers, its explains accents, glidings, liasions and colloquial expressions - a true gem I haven't found anyone else! Great for listening during your commute since you can play the CDs in a CD player or burned to your Ipod. . They should be coming out with new products shortly that I am very excited about. Its is soooo worth the money at this inexpensive price!

Summary: COMPLETE CRAP, DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!
Comment: I gave up on this after a week or so. It's extremely difficult to follow and the words are spoken to quickly. Add a little extra and buy an interactive learning CD ROM rather than an audio disc. With no visual aid or english translation (unless you care to sit with the instruction booklet on your lap whilst driving), it makes learning extremely difficult and boring. I used an interactive CD ROM to start Spanish and found it much more informative as it had visual stimulation. Smart French did make an ideal target for plinking with my air gun!!
