Comment: For someone who wants to raise their children from a Biblical perspective, this book is awesome! I loved all her very practical advice on real-life situations. She used so many real-life examples of typical situations that I deal with every day, and how to teach my children the Biblical reason why they should not behave that way. I love the idea of teaching my children how to live based on what God's Word says. Training their hearts to make right & godly choices makes so much sense, but I never knew how to apply it to real life until I read this book. The practical advice in this book is priceless! I also bought the companion guide "Wise Words for Mom" which is a handy little reference tool to refer back to to remind me of all the practical tips I learned in this book.
I highly recommend this book if you are a Christian and wanting to train your children using God's Word.

Comment: I find it hard to believe anyone would give a good review to a book that condones spanking a ten-month-old, let alone an author who provides a detailed description of "baby whipping methods" for readers.
Sorry. Not my cup of tea.

Comment: I have taken parenting classes and read many, many books on the subject. I cannot give enough praise for this book. It is simple, practical, and Biblical. I wish I had found this 6 years ago! It is definitely on my recommendations list for all parents.

Comment: As a new mom AND a Christian, I bought this book after our church recommended it during our parenting class. However, after receiving it and finding the chapter on spanking, I was apalled. I can never imagine including spanking in our regular discipline routine, and I don't think I am less of a Christian for it! I agree with a previous post, in that the act of spanking when the parent is calm and not angry just doesn't make sense. I can see possibly in the heat of the moment a little swat, but nothing as calculated as taking them into a private room, removing their pants and hitting them. That would feel so wrong to me. There are many statements in the Bible especially the Old Testament that we could take literally, but for me, this is one that I will choose not to take literally. Just as I do not believe a man should hit his wife for doing wrong, I certainly don't believe we should hit our children for doing wrong in order to "teach" them something. I don't want my child to fear or feel physical pain from my hand. (And I am a Christian and love God, but I don't think all Christians have to spank their children.)
