Comment: An excellent introduction to the English language for 1st and 2nd grades!! What a bargain!! It is well-scripted for the teacher to know exactly what to say as well as provides sample answers that your child could give. It covers basic grammar, copywork, poetry, and more. After this, you can continue on with 3rd and 4th grade levels from the same author or switch to another program. Either way, this will lay a strong foundation for the rest of their elementary years.

Summary: Language skills made easy for you and the kids!
Comment: After three years of homeschooling my middle school children, I had to go back to the basics and start with my next youngest child. This book does an excellent job of laying the foundation that your child will need to draw on in future years. I only wish my older son had had the benefit of a program such as this. It would have saved us many, many days of frustration with language skills when he was older. Be sure to do the Writing with Ease series along with the First Language Lessons.

Comment: This book is very good if you want a quick grammar lesson. I was using Bob JOnes 2nd grade grammar but didn't make it through the first chapter mid-year. It was too textbooky And the lessons were long. My daughter looks forward to doing FLL. My kindergartener is also memorizing the poems easily. I highly recommend, especially if you have other smaller children. The lessons can be quickly taught. You can also substitute your own poems for the ones she uses.
