Summary: IT WORKS!!!
Comment: I have a 5 year old who used to just basically ignore what I said and continue with whatever he was doing. Not anymore! I have a new kid. This book showed me how to say something ONCE and have the behavior STOP! It's all about saying what you mean and following through with the consequences that are promised. Reminding him later about his previous behavior (the why behind the consequences) has greatly improved his behavior. Get the book. I promise if you read and apply what you learn you WILL have a new kid by Friday.

Comment: I loved this book. Everything makes sense. I have two children, ages 5 and one and a half and I have really been struggling with my 5 year old. She has had a major attitude lately and has been mean to her family and her friends. I realize now that most of it had to do with my attitude that she was picking up on. I am trying really hard to change myself so I can help my kids. I have always had the worry of raising unruly kids. I have met so many wonderful parents who raise ungrateful children who grow up and do drugs and other things. With this book I recognize the mistakes those parents made, and can see how to raise a good child who grows up to be a good person as an adult. I think every parent should read this no matter how old your kids are, even if they are married and on their own.

Summary: Excellent Book with very practical advice
Comment: Okay... I've read a lot of parenting books for 2 reasons:
1: I want to be a better parent.
2: It's helpful in the type of work I do.
Here's the difference with this book from ALL the rest. Dr. Leman lays it out straight with practical advice and strategies. He does not bog you down in the psychobabble that so many of the other parenting books do. A good deal of the others will explain the WHY of behavior and thought patterns, but this book teaches HOW to change negative behaviors.
This is one of the most helpful books on parenting I have ever bought and I would reccomend it to any of my friends or collegues.

Summary: Have a New Kid by Friday
Comment: I bought this book as a last attempt to regain the peace in our home. Our 12 year old had begun to talk back and cause an argument at meals and bedtime and inbetween. We know he loves us and tries hard to exercise self control. But nothing was working: talking, reasoning, yelling, grounding, removing privledges .... nothing was working. I bought this book a week before vacation and except for two small disagreements (which were settled quickly without anger) ; our whole vacation was peacful. It's not magic, it takes a bit of self-control on our part. Since vacation, we have had to remain consistant but continue to see results.
