Next, parents get tips on teaching phonetic rules that enable children to sound out “decodable” words, which are the majority of words they will encounter as beginning readers. Summary: Fun and Effective Learning Tool!
Comment: This is a great book! My daughter loves the activities found in the book and on the CD-ROM. I am so pleased with how the book really does what it is supposed to do - - - it teaches kids to read! My daughter has learned many words in the brief time we've had the book. She especially enjoys the animal codes and hidden pictures. Her favorite activity on the CD-ROM is the bubble activity. I think it is great that the child can read the stories on the CD by themselves or have them read to them. Another thing I like is that there is a pattern to how the activities are presented. Once I showed her what to do she could work independently. We love this book! {I was surprised when I bought the book to see that the cover was different than what is shown. It is brighter and more appealing.) All first graders should have this book!
