Summary: Use at least one of the suggestions: Limited to no t.v. watching
Comment: Some people think that John Rosemond's views are radical but at least one of them was right on the mark when changing the behavior of our 3 year old son: limit his t.v. viewing. We had always said before our son was born that we would never let the t.v. become a babysitter. Once he was born that quickly changed just so I could get something done.
Our son began to exhibit behaviors at age 2 1/2 that I thought were typical terrible two behavior like whinning, throwing fits, etc. After reading this book, I decided to "test" the idea in his book that t.v. watching can cause bad behavior. After just one week of no t.v., both I and the daycare provider noticed a significant change in my son. He no longer had his once a day meltdown! He would come to the table and have a conversation with the family. He hardly caused a fuss when I told him no about watching t.v.

Summary: Excellent book
Comment: My husband and I had the pleasure of hearing John Rosemond speak and he made so much sense we went to his website to figure out which of his books we should get. We bought this one and are so glad we did. I've read my share of parenting books and this is by far the best of the lot. It covers all of the basics. Every technique we've tried, has worked for us, as long as we used it consistently. This book should be mandatory reading for all parents.

Summary: His advice improved my child's behavior in one week
Comment: While some of Mr. Rosemond's advice is hard for a Mom like me to swallow (kids don't need to routinely sleep in your bed-I'm guilty here), my 4-year old only-child ruled our household. I think Mr. Rosemond is absolutely correct on most all of his advice, especially about dragging kids to adult-centered activities. My daughter begged me to stop dance lessons and gymnastics, but I thought that it was "good" for her. I realize now that children need down time to be creative and resourceful. I also don't feel nearly as guilty when I tell her I can't sit in the floor and play with her. She needs to learn how to entertain herself!! Mr. Rosemond's advice is old-fashioned, but my daughter's behavior has completely turned around once we started implementing his suggestions.

Summary: Raising Children
Comment: This book gave some good ideas to use with raising children. With three children always arguing I needed all the help I could get. This book was reccomended to me by a grandparent who had some of the same problems.

Summary: Neglect and anger your child
Comment: This book ignores all the known facts about children, and relies on old myths, phony "anecdotes" and the author's strange ideas. Spending more time alone with your spouse than time playing and talking with your child is not any guarantee for healthy children, quite the opposite. Neglecting children harms them. Shutting kids out when they are hurting and needing parental love only makes problems worse. The author knows this well, since his own father left the family and the author was raised by a demanding, cold-hearted single mother. The author admits he was a juvenile delinquent, yet he insists children be raised as he was: with little attention, and no friendship or playing with parents. What garbage! This book may appeal to parents who don't like their children and want to kid themselves about how children don't really need love and attention. But if you're a normal, caring parent skip this book. And have some fun playing with your child instead.
