Comment: Crank, ice, crystal, speed; whatever you choose to call meth, Kristina calls it the monster, which is a rightly given name.
*SPOILER ALERT* When Kristina visits her drugged out dad, she meets her first love, Adam. He shows her the world of love, physical attraction, and most importantly, drugs. She tries pot & cigarettes, but what really catches her is meth, the monster. When she goes back home, she realizes already she needs to have it in her life. She goes from shy, smart, well-behaved Kristina to sexy, rebellious, and clever Bree, her alter ego, and the beloved wife of the monster. She hooks up with a hottie lifegaurd Brendan, and uses him for the meth. However, she is raped by him, and is scarred. She needs a new source for her meth. She meets Chase, who not only shows her great meth, but great love. She also makes deals to mafias and cranked up cheerleaders. She loses her closet friends and her family's respect, but all she cares about is the monster. Her world really crashes down when she realizes she is pregnant...with Brendan's baby. So the story ends, with baby Hunter and Kristina coming back to her old self...but not for long...*END OF SPOILER*
I HIGHLY recommend you read the sequal, Glass. It really completes the remarkable plot that Ellen Hopkins unfolds.

Comment: Kristina is a young, gifted high school student who is quiet and never gets herself into trouble. But on an innocent trip to her Dad's house everything changes, and Kristina becomes Bree.
After being introduced to the "monster" Kristina gets sucked into a world she never imagined before. For a while the "monster" is her best friend, but it gets her in deep trouble and you'll be shocked at what happens to her through her journey of drugs and alcohol.
Ellen Hopkins, the author of Crank, has written a terrific book loosely based on her daughter's life. Her writing style is very fast, very vivid, and so exciting that it'll make your jaw drop.
This is an extremely touching story and I would recommend this to anyone who knows or would like to know what it's like to have someone you love put in danger.

Summary: The best book ever
Comment: Ellen Hopkins' novel Crank is the type of book you can't put down. The style of writing is what draws you in. You feel like you actually know the characters.
Kristina Snow (aka Bree) thinks her life is pretty good until one summer when her long absent father called and asked her to stay with him for a while. He introduces her to a new world full of drugs boys and drama. The new Kristina forms an alter ego named Bree. Bree is the `bad' version of Kristina. The extreme lengths that Bree is willing to go to score leaves Kristina with a massive mess to try to clean up.
The drug scene pulls her in deep. She's hanging with a new crowd, staying out late, and her grades are dropping. Kristina doesn't like it and wants to change but `the monster's' call is much stronger than she is. She finds new ways to score, including meeting some boys from the wrong side of the track.
Her downward spiral continues until she discovers something that will change her life forever. She cleans up her act. She studies for school, leaves behind her bad friends, and worse, her boyfriend.
The book Glass is a continuance of Crank and is just as gripping. It is written in the same poem like style as Crank.

Summary: Crank is AMAZING!!!
Comment: You always hear on Above the Influence commercials and other ads not to take drugs. But, it's different when you actually read and hear about somebody getting dangerously addicted to them. Crank is by Ellen Hopkins. I rated it five stars, because it was so well-written and I loved how it was in verses. Hopkins tells about Kristina Georgia Snow, a straight A student and how she met crank, the "monster". You may also know this monster by meth. When Kristina goes out to visit her dad, she meets Adam, who she falls in love with. Adam introduces her to meth. Kristina is immediately addicted. Crank makes her go where she never knew she could go. Kristina turns into Bree. Bree is the tough, exotic spontaneous part of Kristina. Throughout her adventure with the monster, a lot happens. And not all of them are good. Can Kristina save herself before it's too late? Crank is realistic fiction.
I loved this book, I couldn't put it down. It looks big but you will go through it fast because it's in verses. Hopkins tells this story based slightly on her daughter's experience with meth. I would definitely recommend this book for teenagers and older. It really gives you a good idea of how addicted people can get.

Comment: how can anyone descrive this book with out mentioning that this book is a reality. Reality to all those young people whom are involved with drugs and dont see a way out. Ellen Hopkins is a great writter she makes it seem like she at some point had been an abusser herself because the way taht she can explain everything the girl is going throug is phenomenal
