Summary: Too general to be very effective
Comment: I found only about a tenth of this book to be really useful, namely the Baby Steps sections, where Sean Covey lists short-term goals for teens. For example, the first Baby Steps are to "get up when you planned to for 3 days in a row" and "sometime today do a kind anonymous deed, like writing a thank-you note, taking out the trash, or making someone's bed."
There are also a couple of good quotes scattered throughout. My favorite was found in a section about materialism: "If who I am is what I have and what I have is lost, then who am I?" -Anonymous
But there are major caveats. The biggest is that the book is way too general to be useful to an older teen who probably wants more depth. As a 17 year old, I also feel that my morals are developed to a point where I cannot learn from this book, which seems to be geared toward a younger, pre-teen or younger teen population. However, if your child enjoys Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, they might like this.
Personally, I did not like having lessons on self-esteem, materialism, honesty, strength-identification, and time management crammed in one book. Covey only lightly skims the surface of each topic, so that the quotes he uses are often much more effective than what is being on that page.

Comment: the seller should have stated that the exercises/activities had already been completed (in black marker, no less)rendering those activities useless to me. the book had writing in it throughout, which affects the experience of the reader as they attempt to do the exercises.
