Summary: An all-time favorite
Comment: Make Way for Ducklings may indeed be my favorite book from childhood. It is also beautifully illustrated. It will keep your children captivated from the beginning to the end.
It is a wonderful tale about a mother and father duck who look for a home in which to raise their ducklings. Eventually they find that home in the Boston Public Gardens. There is a wonderful scene where they are about to cross a busy Boston street and a friendly policeman holds up traffic until they reach safety.
It is a wonderful story about the nurturing love of parents for their children. The ducks are imbued with a humanized aspect of that love. It is a book that will make children come to appreciate animals, especially ducks.
I have wonderful memories of my mother reading this to me as a child. I would suggest that you do the same with your children. It will create a lasting memory that they will cherish forever.

Summary: Same great book I loved as a child!
Comment: My sister and I absolutely loved Robert McCloskey's books as children, but I had forgotten all about them... until I had a child of my own. I bought this classic for my 3-year-old as an Easter gift, after finding to my dismay that our local library did not have it! She LOVES reading about Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and all their ducklings, Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, etc. etc. The heartwarming story never gets old, and even though the pictures and some of the text are now a bit "vintage" this just adds to the charm. I'd recommend this for children at least 3 and probably more like 4 or 5 years old. Get the hardcover edition because this is a book that could be enjoyed for a couple generations!

Comment: I LOVED this book when I was a kid, and even got to see the statues in Boston. I was buying this book for a friend's child and was delighted to be able to pass on a childhood favorite. The book was in great condition, and arrived quite quickly.

Comment: So this is pretty much an oldy-but-goody and I hope the classic, super-sweet theme does not turn people off from a truly amazing story full of some brilliant and gorgeous illustrations (come on, no one illustrates like this anymore!). This is the adorable story of a family of ducks who settle, despite some risks, near a city (tragically, I can't figure out what city). What happens when Mrs. Mallard and her babies need to go meet Mr. Mallard? The characters are surprisingly rich and the illustrations very much do their part in telling this fun story.
