Summary: JRR Tolkien Lord of the Rings trilogy
Comment: This is one of the best fantasy series ever written. Reading originals is so much more gratifying than movies.
It covers the whole gamut of emotions and is action from start to finish with good triumphing over evil, while being clean all the way through.
There's never a dull moment, although the first time I read it 30 years ago, it did take me several starts to get into the swing of the book # 1.

Summary: Timeless heroic fantasy trilogy
Comment: Written during World War II, this epic work was created to provide distraction and entertainment during the bombing of England for Tolkien's son. Naturally, it is easy to see some similarities between the primary evil of that day and age with the primary evil in The Lord of the Rings. This work follows a coalition of different peoples as they band together to bring an end to the evil of their times. Each volume of the trilogy focuses on a different portion of the travails endured by the primary characters and those who aid them. Each volume provides additional insight to the purpose of both good and evil as well as the unforeseen allies, betrayals, and losses suffered along the road to victory. Be prepared to read this trilogy several times to get all of the nuances out of the characters and plot. This boxed set resurrects the original paperback cover art that creates a single picture when the books are placed side by side. Cost of this boxed set is surprisingly reasonable and well worth the expense.

Summary: Best book set, ever!
Comment: Not only is htis the best fantasy set ever written, and phenomenal movies, by the way, this set came exactly as described, brand new, essentially with only a little bit of shelf wear, and it came as fast as I could possibly have hoped. I read the Hobbit in high school, eons ago, but never got around to the others, so thank you very much. I'm almost done with them now, but I think I'll keep 'em and read em' again in a while.

Comment: The book set arrived "as advertised" -- there was a bit of wear on the slipcase, but when I know about it in advance, we're good! Service was very timely -- books always arrive in very good time.

Comment: This was pretty cool. The paperbacks are good, solid. You can't leave them open though, they aren't that type, which can be an issue, you just have to use a bookmark. There are some that just lay open, but these won't. Worth the money though.
