Summary: Grandson not sure!
Comment: I purchased this set of books because of a co-workers review. My grandson is 9 & is not sure if these books will interest him. I had purchase items from the Spy Museum in Washington DC & he liked them. I explained what they were like where he would be the "detective" so he's now going to try them. He likes to read what he he interested in.

Summary: Read and Think Critically. Your kids will start busting assumptions
Comment: Want to get your kids thinking critically about information they receive. Encyclopedia Brown, buy detective, will do. Every case is solvable. Readers get better and better at picking out information that is an outlier and using it to solve the case. This kind if creative thinking is how we should all read everything. By asking where is the hole in the argument, we become better thinkers.

Comment: I have decided to be the book grandma, and this is the perfect starter for my 7 1/2 year old grandson. I am striving to get him as excited about reading as I did his mother 30 years ago.

Summary: Can't go wrong with Encyclopedia Brown ....
Comment: I remember enjoying these books as a boy and love sharing them with my son. Besides being enjoyable stories with admirable characters they are great for teaching reading. Solving the puzzles requires reading with attention to the details, logic and imagination. Sometimes young readers would rather skip difficult to read details but with these books they know they need to get each word.
