It's purple Pinkalicious!
Pinkalicious loves the color pink, but all the girls at school like black. They tease her, saying that pink stinks and pink is for babies. But Pinkalicious doesn't think so…that is, until her friends stop playing with her. Now Pinkalicious has a case of the blues. But could she ever turn her back on her favorite color?
In the follow-up to the bestselling Pinkalicious, a young girl remains true to herself and discovers that pink isn't only a pretty color, but also a powerful one.

Summary: Not our favorite
Comment: I was expecting Purplicious to be more about purple, my daughter's favorite color. It's actually more about pink and black. Purple comes in on the last page. It has a good message, though.

Summary: Awesome!
Comment: This is a great book with an awesome message. I would have thought that it would only be good for girls but both of my boys love the story.

Summary: Shocked at the Low Average Customer Rating
Comment: Wow! As a parent of both a 5 and 6 year old, as well as a fourth grade teacher, I was shocked when I saw the low customer rating average for Purplicious. I have never written a customer review for Amazon, but I felt strongly that I should defend this book.
My kindergarten daughter and 1st grade son love this book, and it has sparked wonderful conversations about staying true to yourself no matter what popular opinion may be. Pinkalicious is obviously miserable when she decides to fold to peer pressure. The story also reinforces that fact that a true friend can appreciate your differences. Purplicious proclaims that pink is "perfect" and "powerful" to her new friend Pinkalicious. Purplicious also shows Pinkalicious that she needs pink to make her favorite color purple.
Because my own children enjoyed the book so much, I brought it to school to read to my fourth graders. They absolutely adored it. We had a great conversation about "mean girls" afterwards, and most of the girls (and many of the boys!) wanted to talk about their own experiences with "mean girls". (Don't worry! I reminded them that boys can be mean too.) Again, the concept of true friendship was a great topic of discussion.
As I read in another positive review of this book, I wonder if some of the problem with the story for these readers is the fact that it has been seen as a preschool book. I have taught students from second grade to fifth grade, and I respectfully ask those negative reviewers of preschool age children to pull out this story again when their child has reached the age of 7 or 8. I believe that you will be shocked to learn of some of your own child's "Purplicious" experiences and how readily both your daughters and sons will want to talk about them.

Summary: Don't waste your time or money
Comment: My daughter absolutely loves Pinkalicious, so I thought we would give Purplicious a try. It's not worthy of being connected to Pinkalicious at all. The authors could have done much better. If this is the best in a follow up they could do, they should have stopped after the first.

Summary: don't worry about others.
Comment: I LOVE this story!
My Daughter (5.5 years) loves it too. She could read Pinkilicious on her own, but this had some more difficult vocabulary, but she likes the story.
