Summary: Do not buy - TERRIBLE QUALITY!
Comment: This was a gift for my 4 year old who plans to become a knight when he grows up. Unfortunately, this toy wouldn't stay together and really frusterated him at a time that he should have been celebrating! I thought maybe we just received the box that was skipped by the quality controller in the manufacturing process, but now I see most of those who have purchased this same toy have had the same problems! For such a high retail price and all the commercials that hyped it up, one would hope for more! Many pieces seemed melted, and yet others that appeared to be in proper shape weren't and wouldn't fir together either! This caused instability in the entire structure and much of it has never been able to be constructed at all! Not to mention that the other pre-made parts such as the draw bridge didn't open and close properly either. Nothing seemed to work! I am waiting to hear back from the company about what they will do to remedy this terrible product! I will update this review as I know more in that regard! I would recommend NOT TO BUY this product at all! Not worth the trouble or disappointment of the child! NOTE: I gave 2 stars to educational because of the lessons learned to impact future toy purchases and my young son still had fun with the partial castle as he isn't aware of the expectation of consumer products not being defective. It should really get ZERO STARS if it were only up to me!

Summary: My boys love it
Comment: I recognize that many reviewers found the product difficult to assemble, but I did not, and enjoyed the building of it. yes, it took some time, but I think that is part of the point--like building a model airplane. Once assembled, my two boys loved the castle and play with it every single day. We continue to buy the entire collection for them. The knight figurines are detailed, the playsets interesting, and we have long hours of battles and exploration. i knew my elder boy wanted a castle for Christmas, so I picked this up. he has enjoyed it far more than i could have imagined. And while they are too young to really put the pieces together themselves, they are intrigued and watch me assmble it for them. Soon they will enjoy putting things together. In short, i disagree with the reviewers that dislike the product, and recommend it to parents and children with an appreciation for detail in adventure type toys.

Summary: Listen to reviews -- pieces do not fit together
Comment: This was given to my son by Santa. My son loves knights and such and this is a castle where the actual castle looks better than Legos castle. Once put together, the castle is far more realistic looking than the competition. However, the difficult part is putting it together. As many others have said, the pieces do not fit together and always want to pop off. After giving them a call, Mega Bloks did replace some of the main pieces that did not fit together when initially building the castle. But, after receiving those pieces and continuing with the building, we found many other, smaller, pieces that we had a hard time with. After setting aside the pieces that were not working, we had to improvise the final look of our castle. It was very frustrating for my 5 year old as he can usually build most of these type of sets by himself, but he kept needing help because the blocks kept popping off due to not fitting together properly. I can say that I have not yet had Lego pieces that did not snap together correctly. This set did have a lot of nice extra pieces such as tables, chairs, a dog and other items that you might find in a castle. My son does enjoy having those pieces. You'll have to decide if the much lower price is worth the trouble of having pieces that do not fit onto each other.

Summary: Cheap workmanship
Comment: Although the concept and scope of this castle is attractive, the workmanship was extremely poor. Many pieces don't interlock securely, making it impossible to finish the project. Dozens of tiny pieces became a nightmare to manage and after putting it away, we're still finding tiny parts throughout the house. These small pieces were difficult to handle when trying to assemble the castle and made it hard for an adult to assist his child in the project.
