Summary: Toy Requires Engineering Degree
Comment: I purchased this toy for my 8 year old grandson, who puts Lego's together all the time, for Christmas. When we sat down to put it together it had me cussing within 10 minutes. The instructions are very small pictures only, with very hard to see green lines showing how to join parts. The parts are very hard to assemble due to their small size and limited tools provided. After 1/2 hour my grandson lost interest and I after 3 with only 3/4 of body completed. We then tried out the base vehicle and unfortunately it only has one forward or reverse speed, fast. I put it in a box in the garage, will try again in a year or two, and ordered him a Lego set. This toy is not for young kids. I would recommend at least 12 or older

Comment: I bought this item to my nephew. When I was looking for a gift I was worried about he plays a lot of video games, chats a lot, and enjoy all you imagine related to electronic products. By other hand, he loves to build things. I wanted to buy something to challenge him to develop other abilities, as: concentration, creativity, etc etc etc and take him apart from the computer ant TV. This article is fun and educational. I think it is a great choice!!!

Comment: Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RQPC6K6AQTE29 It is good if you have all of the screws tightened up by hand, not by the power drill from the set, 50-Model "Best of" Erector Set. The brochure for electronics says for indoor use only, not to go through puddles and to be out in the hot sun. I drove it on an inch or less of snow tightened with the drill and pieces came off like crazy. On FatBrainToys.com, it says that it can go outside, even said in your backyard, on hiking trails, outside everywhere. The Hummer is good, if tightened by hand, not from the drill. It is good and it can go fast.

Summary: For my son or husband?
Comment: We bought this for our son for his 7th birthday. I know thats a little younger then the target audience. My husband couldn't wait to open it.
They both have been having a lot of fun with it. I like it because the instructions make my son think spatially.
My only concern is all the little screws are easy to lose, and i would think they are hard to replace.
Each model has its own challenges, the semi is the hardest to build i think. Gently bending the hood, while trying to screw all the little screws and hold the nuts is difficult for us as adults, my son gave up on the 2nd screw.
It would be nice if the kit came with its own storage box like K'Nex, to help keep things organized. But it doesn't.
All in all its a great kit, fun to build and drive.
