Comment: I didn't think it would happen to me, but sure enough... almost every set of batteries I used had either 1 or 2 that leaked. They also ended up having a shortened life span than I expected. I'm staying away from these and will pay the extra money for quality.

Comment: Note that these are zinc carbon batteries not alkaline. These work fine in low current devices like remote controls but for cameras, portable electronics, RC cars, etc. you're better off with alkaline. Wikipedia says "Zinc-carbon batteries are the least expensive primary batteries and thus a popular choice by manufacturers when devices are sold with batteries included. They can be used in remote controls, flashlights, toys, or transistor radios, where the power drain is not too heavy."

Comment: I read an article in Consumer Reports, that basically said there was little difference in batteries for general use and buy the generic. I have bought bulk Universal batteries and have not noticed any difference from the brand names.
