Summary: one of the favorites at Christmas this year
Comment: My son *loves* this castle...he has yet to stop playing with it, and it was one of his favorite gifts from Santa this year....the only complaint that Santa had was it did take a while to put together.

I had read the other reviews on this product before purchasing, and am so glad I did...we put it together Christmas Eve so it was ready to go the next morning...took a little over 2 hours all told to assemble, but very fun and durable...would definitely recommend!!

Summary: All we expected and more!
Comment: My son (6) got this for Christmas and loves it. Part of the fun is putting it together which the whole family got involved in. At one point, a small mistake I made made it seem like it would come apart but I found the problem, connected the wall properly and it is FANTASTIC. Great battles are fought and won with this castle. The dragon knights have control one day, the king's knights and the good guys the next! Even the pirates have sailed up in their playmobil ship and taken over the castle. (We obviously have other playmobil sets!) The pterodatyl haunts the castle after travelling through time to help the dragon or ward him off... what more can I say? I'm not sure who has more fun with playmobil in our family! Thank goodness for a quality toy that has no Disney or movie endorsements selling it. The best sell is the fun your child will have with their own imagination!!!!

Summary: I wish I'd had this toy when I was a child
Comment: Our 4-year-old son requested this toy for Christmas after poring over the Playmobil catalog. I read some of the reviews that said it was not sturdy, but my experience with Playmobil has always been positive so we bought it anyway and are very happy that we did. We also got him the cannon and had his grandparents get him the dragon and catapult. This combination has already provided a lot of hours of playtime and story-telling in the short time that we have had it.

Assembling the castle took only about 90 minutes, but I will say that I have assembled a lot of Playmobil toys and it gets easier every time as you learn how their toys are designed. For example, Forest Lodge is smaller but took me longer than this to assemble because it was my first experience with Playmobil and I made many mistakes. As far as the "falling apart" issue, all I can say is that our son is very rough with it and it holds together without any problems. He attacks the castle with the dragon, slams into it, shoots it with the catapult and cannon sets and nothing falls off. I don't know why people have had this issue.

The great thing about this castle is that it is designed in a way that allows a lot of scenarios to be acted out in a realistic way. The working doors, trapdoors, stairs and ladders allow the games to be played out in a fluid way. My son's favorite element is the gate that can be dropped down on the castle's invaders. It is also very useful that the roofs of the towers are removable because they allow you to play better with the characters.

We also love the little details, such as the mice, fishbones and beer mugs and the little torches. These can easily be lost however, so you have to take care when you put the set away.

I recommend this toy.

Summary: Great for imaginative minds
Comment: After reading the other reviews on this product, my wife and I were quite concerned that this castle might not be very durable. According to some of the reviews it falls apart very quickly, and children have to be very gentle with it. However, we decided to go ahead with the purchase, and are we glad we did. We purchased the toy for our 8 yr old son who is fairly rough with his toys. He has played with this castle for hours on end, and it has not once fallen apart. I am very confused by the reports that it falls apart very quickly. We have not experienced any such thing. The castle has moving parts, doors, windows, etc. and it is fun to get in the floor and play with my son. He has other Playmobil sets, but this is by far the most exciting and fun castle. I'm glad we made the purchase. If you're concerned about it falling apart, at least from our experience there is no need to worry. It's very sturdy and stable.

Summary: Castle brings joy
Comment: My son had begged for this castle for his 10th birthday (he didn't care that it said recommended for ages 3-8), and asked every day after school if it had come. I was afraid he would be disappointed when it finally arrived, but he spent nearly four hours after school one day putting it together, foregoing video games and movies and play dates, and has played with it with his little sister and his friends nearly every day since then. I know some reports say it comes apart easily, but we haven't found this to be a particular problem. Lots of itty-bitty pieces, though.
