Summary: Great for the child in me!
Comment: I purchased this house for myself, a self proclaimed child at heart. It is large, spacious, plenty of rooms to decorate. I wanted the European version with lights, but it was too pricey to ship. But it is great and I have plans to convert a cute "deacon's bench" into a porch swing. Should be fun.
Hope this helps anyone looking into purchasing one.
One more thing...
I opted for the free shipping. I highly recommend that. I placed the order on the weekend, and it arrived the following Tuesday! Wow!

Comment: Our two year old daughter plays with the house multiple times a day for the last 3 months and she has never been into these kinds of toys. She has long prefered things that bang or make noise. Lets just say this could be some quiet time for you all!

Comment: This house was purchased for my 3-year-old twin daughters this Christmas. I had bought their older sister a doll house a few years ago and couldn't find anything I really liked for a young child. I settled on the Fisher Price Twins Dollhouse because it was the best plastic house I could find at the time (plus the twin theme was a bonus). That house leaves a lot to be desired and my daughter has never really cared for it much. This house is exactly what I had been looking for back then. I love all of the little steps and also the windows that open and close. The house is made with nice, thick plastic and does not feel cheap in the least. I love the fact that it is not pink!! It looks like a nice house that anyone would want to live in.

While there are no small pieces that come with this house, I agree with the reviews that caution against small children playing with the furniture sets. I put away many of the tiny pieces that look like chocking hazards. My girls do not put a lot of toys in their mouths anymore, but I would hate to risk it...especially since many of the small pieces are food that might be tempting to play with in that manner. They still really enjoying playing with the furniture sets sans small pieces.

I took the advice of another reviewer and put the house on a small side table so it was off the floor. This really makes it more comfortable for the them to play with...I highly recommend doing it.

My only suggestions for the manufacturer of this house is to add a door bell and maybe a few lights (like are on the Critters Townhouse). Kids love that stuff!

Comment: We purchased this for my daughter's 4th birthday after looking at several dollhouses (including Fisher Price's Loving Family Dollhouse, Melissa & Doug, and many wooden kits) and we are so pleased we went with this one. It is perfect for a child her age. It has plenty of rooms, a detailed porch, and it's easily accessible due to the open back and open side. It has lasted several months without breaking, and with my 5 year-old son in the house, that is a minor miracle! The only assembly required was popping on the railings, so it was very much an open-and-go gift. Although it is plastic, it has the look and feel of a "real" dollhouse -- especially compared to the other plastic models I considered. You can make it even more realistic by downloading wallpaper at the Calico Critters site, or by downloading free dollhouse wallpaper from other sites. Use tissue paper to draw templates, and spray adhesive to stick it on, and make sure you print the wallpaper on a thick paper. After some trial and error, that's what worked best for me.

I wouldn't recommend this for a child under the age of 4 because as another reviewer said, the sets that are made for this house have extremely small pieces. It is definitely a toy for ages 4 and up. If you keep the age guidelines in mind, you will most likely find this to be an appropriate, durable, appealing toy.
