Workflow is the glue that binds information worker processes, users, and artifacts. Without workflow, information workers are just islands of data and potential. Workflow in the 2007 Microsoft Office System details how to implement workflow in SharePoint 2007 and the rest of the 2007 Office System to help information workers share data, enforce processes and business rules, and work more efficiently together or solo.
This book covers anything you're likely going to need to know -- from what workflow is all about, to creating new Activities; from InfoPath forms to ASP.NET forms; from the Rules Engine to the object model. Theres even a section on integrating Office 2003 clients with SharePoint 2007 workflows. Youll come away from reading this book with solid knowledge of how to implement workflow in the new world of Office and SharePoint.

Summary: Great starter book - lacks intermediate topics
Comment: This book has great breadth, but the depth suffers. If you've never used workflows in SharePoint Designer this is a great book to get you started - for that audience I give it 5 stars. But it lacks information I consider fundamental like using variables and building reject/revise loops into workflows. Once you are past the beginner stage it goes on the shelf.
Not being a programmer I can't evaluate the VisualStudio and coding sections of the book except to say that a power end-user like me can't understand that half of the book, and a programmer will be bored by the first half of the book. It is well written, and if the author ever writes two full books I think they would be great.

Summary: a book coulpd be better
Comment: This is a good book about workflow but the author is not a good organizer so if he would do some change (if it's republished.) this will be a better book. I mean some details, he omitted some steps which can be important for the reader. Then we need spend more time to figure out what's going on? why we can't get what it reads, etc. Anyway for technical publications, very few good authors, they're good at tech but not good at how to teach. And any good book should give a complete, practical sample, people who read the book can use it directly. That's most people want from the book. Anyway it's a good one compared to other workflow books.

Summary: excellent reference material for SharePoint and WF
Comment: I think this book is a great starting point for SharePoint and WF. I have not another found a consolidated reference on the topic... makes it easy to find all of the needed material to get started in one read.

Summary: one of best book i have read in years
Comment: I wish all authors (programming) could write as clearly and as understandable as this author; no hidden stuff or tricks, just straight to guts. If you are new to workflow and want to get going fast enough, get this book.
I put this author in the category of authors like Stanley B. Lippman, Dr. Grimmes, Dr. Major, Dino Esposito, Ted Pattison, and John Papa.

Summary: Very comprehensive review of Workflow in MOSS 2007
Comment: I bought this book as a reference book, but found myself actually reading through it instead! It is very well-written and easy to understand for a non-programmer like me. It covers very simple workflow and also gets into the more complex things you can do to solve very specific business problems when you add Sharepoint Designer. Excellent coverage of workflow from beginning to end.
