Pink, pink, pink. More than anything, Pinkalicious loves pink, especially pink cupcakes. Her parents warn her not to eat too many of them, but when Pinkalicious does . . . she turns pink! What to do?
This sparkling picture book, filled with such favorites as pink bubble gum, pink peonies, pink cotton candy, and pink fairy princess dresses, celebrates all things pink while showing that being yourself is best of all.

Summary: Love It!
Comment: My daughter got this book as a gift for her 3rd birthday along with pink cake mix, pink frosting, pink sprinkles, pink cupcake holders, pink mixing bowl and spatula. It was her favorite gift and instantly become one of her favorite books! It's very entertaining and has a cute message too. We've been giving the book and all the stuff to make pink cupcakes to all her little friends on their birthdays. Highly recommended!

Summary: Meh
Comment: I don't think this book sets a horrible example for kids - after all, the little girl gets her comeuppance (twice!), I just don't find it interesting.
(Although I must say I'm a little weary of the "veggies are disgusting" line in so many children's books. Why is it always BROCCOLI? I like broccoli - always have. My nieces like broccoli - always have. Who doesn't like the chance to devour forests of broccoli? I don't get it. *shrug*)
But back to the point, this book bores me spectacularly. And if I have to sit through it, I'm not gonna. When my nieces can read to themselves, they can have this book. Until then, it's staying at the library and they can ask the LIBRARIAN to read it to them. Me? I read books that don't bore me quite so much.

Summary: A Reviewer
Comment: As a mother of a four-year-old who loves this book, I have to say that she has not been affected by the contents and lessons that so many reviewers are deeming inappropriate. In my opinion, our children are exposed to these type of messages when they watch cartoons or even commercials. It is up to us, as parents to use those experiences as teachable moments to point out the similarities and differences in how individual's live their lives and to describe how your particular family lives and operates in this world. My daughter loves anything fairy and pink, also, and if it means that I get to provided life lessons in the context of a story, then more power to it!
