Summary: Paints do have a strong chemical smell
Comment: I had read some reviews of this before I purchased the set and they said that the paint smells strong. It does say non toxic, however that is really hard to believe after I took a whiff of it. I love Melissa and Doug toys but I am not impressed with the paint for that reason. Other than that my child loves painting and using her easel. No regrets there.

Comment: Great products for the M & D easel. Only problem was the dry-erase marker. On day 2 of playing with this pen, my children pushed too hard on it when writing on the white board and pushed the ink part back inside the pen, rendering it useless. Bummer. Wish there had been at least 1 more pen in the pack.
