Summary: DIDNT FIND IT HARD AT ALL TO FINISH
Comment: IT WAS FUN AND EASY ,UNLIKE THE RN REVIEWER WHO TOOK 5 DAYS TO COMPLETE , I FOUND IT WAS EXTREMELY EASY AND FUN , IT ONLY TOOK ME ABOUT AN HOUR TO FINISH.I SUBSTITUTED THE STRING IT CAME WITH WITH SOME THIN HOBBY WIRE ,WORKED OUT GREAT AND I TAPED THE ENDS OF THE HANGING RODS SO THE PLANETS WOULNT SLIP OUT ,I LATER GLUED THE PLANETS IN PLACE ONCE I GOT IT BALANCED, FINISHED PRODUCT LOOKS GREAT.DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO PAINT THE GLOW PAINT ON.

Comment: It would not allow me to place zero stars....the book that came with it was instructional. 1st off there is no way to know which plant is which. The smallest is the size of 2 heads of pins. Saturns rings are paper and constantly fall off. The lovely glow in the dark glue (PAINT?????) was all dried up. The plastic black sting type stuff does not stay tied so the planets fall off. (over and over, again and again) The criss cross hanger was also a pain...There was nothing to hold the balls in place. Any slight tilt and they continued to fall off.(over and over, again and again.) I had to go out and purchase more glow in the dark paint. I finally glued the planets to the plastic string, the plastic string to the small holder and the small holders to the criss cross hanger. To solve the plants from falling off I had to apply glue into the slots of the arms of the hangers. Trying to make this whole solar system stay in tact it took a total of 5 times to take it apart, put it back together, take it apart, glue everything, put it back together then wait for the all the glued parts to dry. My daughter hated it...she wanted it taken down the balls kept sliding then it would hang sideways. We finally moved it to a corner of the room where nothing would jeopordize the gravitational pull!!!!!

I fiqure since I make 30.00 per hour as a RN the maker of this TOY?????? owes me 5 days,5 hours and 36 minutes of pay. I know this really sounds exagerated but it truly was a pain.

Comment: My son received this as a Christmas gift. Its done "to scale" so the gas giants are big, but the smaller planets are TINY - Mercury and Pluto are so small you can barely see them when the mobile is hanging (the knots in the plastic thread are as big as the planet!). I appreciate the idea of it being to scale... but... the small planets are just too small.
Painting on the glow-in-the-dark paint was a real pain. The paint was SO sticky - like thick glue, and did not go on smoothly with the tiny paint brush that is provided. My son got very frustrated and I ended up having to paint them all myself. And they don't glow that much at all. I think the plastic string that is provided is too thick - the small planets won't hang straight because they are too light to provide enough tension to straighten the string.

The good things... once its put up it looks nice. My son likes it (after I did all the work of putting it together!). And the booklet provides some nice educational information.

All in all, I would say that there must be a nicer mobile out there, that glows in the dark without the sticky messy painting. Not horrible... but not terrific either.
