Summary: A great timer-- I don't understand why it's no longer available!
Comment: I use this when I study to keep focused: 50 minutes on, 10 minutes off. Switching between the hour and minute timer functions means I don't have to reset between the two time periods, just flip a switch. Turning it to vibrate or flash is also a lot less jarring when I'm engrossed with my studying, and great for the library. I've bought several for friends and family who have also found this a helpful technique for getting things done. Unfortunately, it seems as if Polder is no longer making a timer with these features. I hope they bring it back.

Comment: Initially I wanted a QUIET timer to use at work. Kitchen timers disrupt everyone within hearing distance. I found the Polder also rang louder and longer than desired if sitting nearby. HOWEVER, I took it home and found it makes an ideal alarm clock. On vibrate, I set it for specific numbers of hours and minutes, and it makes enough noise to wake me. Since I don't have to worry about power going off and or the complexity of setting a battery-operated alarm clock (you need to be a rocket scientist to figure them out), I'm very happy with this tiny gadget. For short periods of time, ex. to check something in the oven, I'd love a loop of some kind at the top to wear it on a neck lanyard. If I don't stay close by, I can be out of hearing distance when it rings. Though the Polder does have a sturdy clip, it's oddly balanced to hang on a shirt. The Polder is a mainstay of my everyday life and I'm very happy with it.

Comment: Could be louder and batteries run down a little fast but it is the best one I found for the price. Definately recommended!!

Comment: This timer has been very useful. We use the minutes/seconds, but you could change it to hours/minutes. Also you can have it alert you with sound, flashing light OR vibration -- pick one of the three. We also like the clip on the back so we don't have to try to remember where we set it down.

Comment: I got this timer as a time-out timer for my toddler.

It has been great. I installed a magnetic strip right above where he sits for time out. I keep the timer preset for the amount of time he is supposed to be there. So, now when I tell him to go to time-out, he pushes the button on the timer and sits down. I have it set so that it will vibrate, alarm, and flash (you can choose one or all three), and when it goes off he stands back up, pushes the button, and goes about his business. :)
