Comment: Clearly those wonderfully creative beings who dreamt up make-your-own-opoly really never intended for anyone to "make there own opoly" and be completely satisfied. The design aspects are seriously flawed in the board, the money and pieces, and the program itself. But the final product is really fun to play. (Brief summary of points at the bottom)

First let me start with the problems in design.
I opened up the program, printed the instructions, and that went fine. I tried to insert some pictures, and for some reason it wont let you take them off your desktop, they have to be imported from a CD, or from your "My Pictures" folder. That's a little annoying, but simple enough to correct.
I looked on google, and found some funny little cartoon pictures, some clip art, and some black silloutte images. Then I began to import them into the game and printed off a test sheet. They all had white background space that looked cheap, and quite frankly unprofessional (similar to the white background of pictures in a Power Point Presenation).
Well i figured there must be a simple way to correct this, and I set out to remove the white color so that the white space would be the same color as the board. I decided to break out Adobe Photoshop, the do anything program,(In which i have considerable experience designing projects and pictures). The easiest way to fix the white background in Photoshop is to make it the same color as the board. Sounds easy enough right? WRONG. I hit the print screen button, and bascially took the color from the game board to put in the background of my pictures. I edited all the pictures with this new background, put them into the program and printed it. While all of these pictures matched seemlessly on the computer, when i printed them out they all had blue-green squares behind them now (instead of the white ones). Basically what you see on the computer screen is NOT what it looks like when it prints.

Well i had already bought the game, and i wasn't about ready to give up. So i printed around 15 full test sheets, trying to GUESS the color code in photoshop. This took numerous tries and was incredibly tedious since the Opoly program takes forever to print. But after about 5 hours, I found a COLOR CODE that is really really close. IT IS (from top to bottom) 183, 226, 109. I really hope that will save someone time in the future. (Oh and i tried to convert to CMYK format, and Opoly program doesnt read it, and says the area is only white space)

Moving on, I changed the background color in all twenty some odd pictures AGAIN, and imported them into the program. I was now satisfied that the color matched the board color on the paper, and I printed out the stickers. The sticker paper worked well and I went to stick them on the board when i noticed something. THE PRINTED STICKERS DON'T MATCH THE COLOR OF THE BOARD. In other words, The green color on the stickers isn't the same green on the board, and no matter what you do you CANT MAKE IT MATCH! Also, on the box, The stickers dont match! it looks like you printed something out and put in your own color of green and just tried to stick it on top.

This was pretty infuriating after all the trouble I went to matching the stickers in the first place. The other major problem i have is that they dont give you even CLOSE to enough paper. Plan on buying your own colored paper for the money, and cardstalk for Good News Bad News cards.

Another quite ridiculous issue is that when playing the game, often times the mortgage value for the properties and sometimes even the rent will ask for values like $250 (Mortgage value of one of the first properties in the game). I even saw a few rent values that were something like $1410, which seems really quite absurd because the lowest denomination of money is $100. Didnt they think this game through at all???

So in summation, you CANNOT match the green color to the game board, the disk only comes with simplistic black and white sillouttes, The money images are hard to crop, the program is slow and difficult to use, the outside of the box wont ever match, and the currency seems all messed up. Despite its many problems, the final product is fun to play.

On a good note, designing the Good News Bad News cards is really fun. The pieces are also fun to create, even though they feel a little cheap. The Property Deed cards look really nice, especially Laminated. And even though the play is a little off from the original monopoly, it is quite fun to play. If you are a fan of different varieties or the orignial monopoly, you should have fun playing this game (if you want to go through the work of making it). Even after going through all this, i might consider doing it again. It was fun to create, although a large Hassel. Although the program itself has many flaws, the final product seems worth it (largely because of the inexpensive price, I figure I save a lot of cost in labor).

I am not quite sure about past reviews saying this product is not "American-Friendly".... I would have to COMPLETELY disagree. I created this monopoly game for my boyfriend and cannot wait to see his face when he opens it!

** Buyer Beware: This is not an exact replication of a monopoly board.... there are fewer squares and a few tweaks here and there.... overall the same concept... but some minor differences....**

There are 32 squares total and in the following order...
Starting at HOME, Property, Utility, Property, "Good News" (similar to community chest), 3 Properties, "Lose a Turn"-corner, 3 properties, "Lotto" (replaces Train), 3 properties, "Free Space"-corner(replaces Free Parking), 3 properties, "Bad News", 3 Properties, "Fate"-corner, 3 properties, lotto, Property, Utility, Property..... then home.
While creating the game you will be asked to come up with 12 good senarios and 12 bad senarios... these are cards you can create similar to chance and community chest.... An example of one bad news card I made was "Get lost on the way to your first date, Lose a Turn"

You can create your own money, your own game pieces with pictures on them, and even personalize each space with a photo... The easiest way to do this however is to place the photos on a CD and then pull them off of there while creating the game... the program cannot access "My Pictures" folder off of your PC.
This process may be difficult for a perfectionist because each thing must be cut out to attach to the board... I would recommend a good pair of scissors or maybe even a paper cutter...

I printed my money on card stock so it could withstand some use and also created more "Good News" and "Bad News" cards...
