Summary: Interesting but NOT a beginner's book
Comment: I am an intermediate level Italian speaker. I agree with other reviewers that the language is often archaic. In addition, many of these pieces were written in old regional dialects that you probably won't see very often. It's fun to try to read the literature in the original language but as a learning exercise it's a two-edged sword.

Comment: To tell you the truth, if you're a beginnin or intermediate student, this product is a bit much. It's for the more advanced student. Frankly, I'm hoping I will get to the point that I can read this book,but I am not there yet. For the advanced student, it's great.

Comment: The stories are good, with excellent translations. One must get used to the fact that often Italian stories lack something that English readers look for. Sometimes they seem to leave one hanging with inadequate endings. But I liked the stories and the translations. I like dual language books very much.

Comment: It is hard to find dual language books, and they aren't always good when you do find them. This one is worth it. Others describe the contents well. Worth the money, if you have the interest in learning Italian.
